Act Aware is Leiden University College’s green committee originally founded by LUC students. The committee’s aim is to make the LUC community more sustainable through facilitating active changes and informing students about living sustainably. As a part of their actions, Act Aware has introduced LUC’s own compost bin that can be used by the residents and is negotiating with the town hall to get recycling bins for the building as well. On a smaller scale, the committee hosts small events such as movie screenings, workshops and discussions, all related to sustainability.
Why sustainable?
As the name suggests Act Aware tries to raise awareness of environmental problems and through it encourages students to live more sustainably. By influencing the actions of individuals, the committee strives to help shape a responsible and environmentally conscious community. A large, active student body like that attending Leiden University College is the perfect place to implement real changes, sure to have long-lasting impacts.
