Cheapassbikes is a company selling second-hand bikes in the Netherlands and in Belgium. They offer more than 300+ bicycles in their online shop and deliver the bicycle in 1-2 working days in The Hague for free, including 1 month warranty. But you can also check the bikes out at their warehouse. They offer a large variety of recycled bikes. Their main goal is to sell cheap and sustainable bikes. To do so, they re-use parts of old bikes, fix them if needed, and build a “new second hand” bike without needing any new parts.
Why sustainable?
Cheapassbikes helps move society towards more responsible use of our resources. They use parts from top brands, such as Gazelle, Sparta, or Cortina, which are known for their durability. All the parts of bikes that they cannot re-use are recycled: it’s a zero waste process.
Climate Action: Reducing CO2 emissions during production. Producing a new bike will cost around 240 Kg of CO2, which can be saved when you buy a second-hand bike.
Responsible consumption and production: Refurbishing and re-using materials promotes responsible consumption and production processes.
Reduced Inequalities: As a social enterprise, they also work together with youth who are distanced to the labor market. Hence, providing equal opportunities.
