Join the Pipe is an international initiative founded in Amsterdam that aims to both provide clean drinking water sources across the world and also tackle the problem of single-use plastic water bottles. They are aiming to achieve this goal by selling reusable water bottles and setting up refill stations in cities all across the world, from the most to the least developed country.
Why sustainable?
The initiative is sustainable because it focuses on the reduction of waste, specifically what is known as “plastic soup” all over the world. They achieve this through the sale of reusable water bottles and setting up refill stations. Join the Pipe uses the proceeds from their water bottle sales to help finance clean water and plastic clean up projects in some of the poorest regions of Africa and Asia which tend to suffer the most from lack of access to clean water and proper waste management.
Clean Water and Sanitation: This initiative is working to provide clean and safe drinking water in all parts of the world. It also specifically focuses on helping lesser developed regions.
Responsible Consumption and Production: The initiative aims to reduce plastic waste from single-use water bottles by ensuring safe access to clean water and reusable bottles.
Partnerships for the Goals: The initiatives fosters (financial) collaboration between the Global North and South to ensure the fundamental right to have clean water for everyone.
