The Leger des Heils is the Dutch chapter of the Salvation Army, which isa Christian and international charitable organisation. The Salvation Army aims to help the poor, destitute, and hungry. The foundation has a branch in The Hague, as well as a separate Salvation Army second-hand clothing department.
Why sustainable?
The foundation offers help in multiple domains, including youth protection, social work, work reintegration and actions tackling human trafficking. They also collect used clothes for redistribution. As such, Leger des Heils is sustainable in more than one sense.
No Poverty:The Salvation Army supports people in need to alleviate the effects of poverty and to reintegrate people back into the workforce.
Good Health and Well-being: The Salvation Army provides help in hospitals and schools, as well as emergency relief.
Responsible Consumption and Production: The second hand clothing stores help in reducing the amount of new clothing produced, and contribute to a more responsible consumption.
