MyWheels is a carsharing company that provides cars for use in many cities in the Netherlands, including The Hague. Users can find a car near them and reserve them with the MyWheels app. Importantly, a total of 250 cars out of 600 are electric vehicles!
Why sustainable?
MyWheels aims to reduce the number of cars in the Netherlands from 9 to 1 million by 2030. Car sharing not only helps to reduce CO2-emissions (the equivalent of 420 trees per car). They claim that car-sharers drive 20% less than car owners. It is also more affordable than owning your own car. And fewer cars make residential areas more liveable.
Sustainable Cities and Communities: By reducing the amount of cars in cities air pollution is reduced. This leads to improved health conditions for citizens in urban areas.
Responsible Consumption and Production: By encouraging carsharing, MyWheels aims to encourage responsible consumer behaviour, as it’s more sustainable than owning a car.
Climate Action: According to MyWheels, car sharers cause 25% less CO2-emissions, thus helping combat climate change
