Restaurants
Waste is a growing problem in the food industry, especially in restaurants, where enormous amounts of food are thrown out on a daily basis. In fact, it is estimated that 33% of all the food consumed in the Netherlands is discarded as waste.
Furthermore, take-away restaurants use huge quantities of packaging, most commonly plastics, that also might end-up in the environment if not properly recycled (plus they are made from oil). This can cause harmful effects in the environment (think plastic soup and microplastics).
The restaurants listed below were chosen as they are aiming for a more sustainable way of making meals, both in terms of food waste and waste from packaging. Many of them focus on providing your with healthier, sustainable, and often (partly) plant-based menus.
Enjoy your meal!
