Sostrene Grene is a Danish retail brand that was established in 1973 by Inger Grene et Knud Cresten Vaupell Olsen. The aim of Søstrene Grene is to sell products with an aesthetic Scandinavian design. Why sustainable?
Søstrene Grene’s entire supply chain aims to be sustainable as they have high expectations for every part of the process. The brand’s suppliers are obliged to respect human rights, the environment and to provide a safe working environment and social conditions. Furthermore, to ensure that their products follow their goal to be sustainable, the products they receive from suppliers must meet various quality, health and environmental requirements. In addition, they try to minimize their energy footprint, for example in shipping and for their offices and stores.
Good health and well-being: all products undergo a control and risk assessment of chemical substances; 90% of all textile products must be OEKO-TEX®- or GOTS-certified; all wooden furniture and children toys must be FSC®-certified.
Responsible consumption and production: By 2021 no single-use plastic products will be sold. Also, in the entire supply chain, human rights and the environment are respected.
Climate action: Energy use is minimalized where possible, for example duriong shipping and in their stores
