“Uitvindershof” is an initiative of local residents supported by the municipality of The Hague to create a communal garden for and by local residents. In March 2016, the municipality of The Hague made the courtyard available for the neighborhood. A foundation was established in April 2016 to turn the site into a neighborhood
Why sustainable?
The garden includes edible plants and fruit trees as well as berry bushes, strawberries, climbing fruit, and grapes. In order to experience a green oasis between the dense buildings, a green natural buffer has been designed. The garden will have varied planting, which will provide living space for birds, insects, and insectivores such as hedgehogs.
Good Health and Well-being: This community garden creates a safe space for people of all ages to improve both their physical and mental well-being.
Sustainable Cities and Communities: There was no destruction in building this green oasis, and it can be used as a central point for community activities.
Life on Land: The garden creates a sustainable area in the city as they grow plants and create a mini-ecosystem for insects to inhabit in an otherwise industrialized area.
